Read your post with interest. I usually set blog tasks that students start working on in class and then finish off (if they haven’t had time) for homework. Seems to work well (you can see examples on http://encouraginglearnerautonomy.blogspot.com/2007/03/using-blogs-and-podcasts-as-language.html . I’ve also got them using web resources to evaluate themselves and thir progression via the CEF (see http://www.ydemas.com/blog/CEF_grid_tasks_v2.html)

Joao,
My students have been blogging since 2003 and we have gone over several blogging phases, each with its particular advantages, outcomes and reactions.

The main purpose has always been to extend their exposure to the target language in an authentic language environment so as to make them more autonomous learners. See Aaron’s post: http://dekita.org/weblog/blogging-for-homework
